BLENDING HISTORY AND COMMUNITY
IN SMALL TOWN AMERICA.

'From Rails to Trails' Documentary for Round Hill, VA

An immersive look back that every small town in America wants.

 Purpose

The town of Round Hill, Virginia is rich with history and small town community. With stories that linger, like the shadows from the past.

And in celebration of it's 125th anniversary, this short look back was created. Not only to portray history, but also the long legacy of community, and neighbors helping neighbors.

JeffInHighDef was commissioned to bridge the stories of long-ago, with the promising future of new friendships and new tall tales.

 Creative and Production

Our creative approach began with considering all of the major events and milestones. Beginnings that put the town of the map in the late 1800s.

Then to carefully assemble moments, that themselves could have been full length alone, into glimpses of who and what was. And what can be.
Using the technology of Ai, to bring to life long preserved pictures. Moving images that portray the human experience of daily life in rural settings.

Building a narrative tone of something bigger than ourselves, a kind of pride that serves others in a welcoming way.

Leaving room for more stories to be added. More stories yet to be told.

 Realized Value

Since it's release this documentary has been well received. With hundreds of views in the first few weeks.

The commentary and conversation is that the result is uplifting, and unifying. With town folk taking to heart the message that this town cares for one another.
And the response to the immersive Ai generated portions has been the biggest story.

"It warms my heart to see the place where I live come to life like that. The old pictures were great, but wow I feel like the people in them were here." said one.

Obviously, a heavy lift in terms of deep research, identifying interview guests, obtaining historical media, digitizing and the story lines.
But it's always worth it. The effort moved the needle help the locals and county alike realize just how much history surrounds us.

Having an evergreen biography that will continue to the their story.
Something any town hall, tourism board or school wants.

Documentary projects like this start at $18K for a 15 minute broadcast style piece.
Scope considerations that affect cost include level of detail, capturing stakeholders, availability of vetted historical resources, graphics and the use of Ai technology.
